About the Cut-A-Thon for Parkinson's

The Cut-A-Thon for Parkinson's is the highlight of Parkinson's Awareness Month, offering participants the opportunity to visit an elite salon and receive professional hair care products from JOICO Professional, while raising funds and awareness for Parkinson's.

Established in 1989, the Cut-A-Thon for Parkinson's is a recognized, well-organized event that showcases the salons, their talented stylists and the quality JOICO Professional Salon Products, courtesy of Piidea Canada Ltd. We are proud to include only the most prestigious salons for our Cut-A-Thons.

This fun event is entirely driven by volunteers, from the gifted stylists who donate their time and talent each year to the receptionists, shampooers and committee members that help the day run smoothly.

What is Parkinson Disease?

In every community across Canada this morning, nearly 100,000 people woke up knowing they would experience tremors, slowness, stiffness, impaired balance, difficulty walking, trouble writing, fatigue and weakness.

For a person with Parkinson's, each day can be a struggle with common tasks most of us take for granted. Medication can lessen the symptoms, but there is currently no cure for this debilitating, progressive, chronic neurological condition. One in ten sufferers is diagnosed before the age of forty.
